Surfrider Foundation Internship Opportunity

 
The Santa Barbara Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation is
seeking two or more UCSB undergraduates for short-term
paid internships.  The interns will work in support of
of our efforts to protect Goleta Beach from the harmful
effects of coastal armoring.  Specific projects include:
 
 
1. Grunion run monitoring and photography.  Interns will
photograph and document grunion runs at Goleta Beach
the nights of August 8, 9, 10, 21, 22, and 23, and
possibly September 6-9.2.
2. Park usage monitoring.  Two interns will monitor traffic
at Goleta Beach park to determine how visitors are using
the park and restaurant facilities.  Monitoring will be
conducted on at least one weekend day and one weekday
during August.3.
3. Environmental advocacy.  Two interns will organize
volunteers to contact County Supervisors and provide
support for Surfrider at the Board of Supervisors
meeting at which the plan for Goleta Beach Park is
discussed.  The meeting is presently scheduled for
Tuesday, August 22.  Interns must be available that
entire day.
Interns must be registered UCSB undergraduate students.

possible.  Please include your full name, major, and UCSB
GPA.  Review of applications will begin immediately, and
will continue until the positions are filled.  This work
